WTF Friday: Hoarders, you've got to see it to believe it!

I am addicted to the A&E show "Hoarders". There is something empowering in knowing that no matter how messy my home gets, it's never as nasty as the houses on this show!

Look at this !
I wonder how people let their homes get to the point of a Condemnation Level 5.  Was it that one undiscarded tin can or that spoiled Chinese take out in the fridge that got the hoarder ball rolling? What was that one thing that couldn't be thrown away that turned this person into a hoarder?  The therapists on the show are diagnosing these people as having chronic obsessive disorder and various other mental issues. I say they are just disgusting and nasty as hell.

How can people live like this?

So if you haven't see the show, here's the premise: People have houses that are on the verge of being condemned and if there is children involved, having protective services come and take the kids. People hoard meaningless items like newspapers and knick-knacks calling themselves collectors while others hoard animals and food. And these homeowners thing there's nothing wrong with how they're living! Yeah having maggots in your refrigerator or and an inoperable toilet with stagnant sludge in it is normal; having rats run across you as you sleep and a stench from your house so bad that mailman won't deliver is perfectly okay. The hoarders even argue with the clean up crews trying to help them. Here's an idea, burn the house down and start over!

There is no liveable space!

The most disturbing episode of this show is the woman who had 32 cats (13 were dead) rescued from her home. She considered herself a rescuer! She had cat poop everywhere; kitchen counters, stove, she was even walking on it, because her home was so junky that she had nowhere to put liter boxes.  To think about this makes me want to hurl! (insert throwing up sounds here)

Cat poop and old cans of cats food everywhere!
So with all this disgusting-ness (yes I said disgusting-ness) going on, why do I tune in? I can't say for sure. I really feel bad for these people. How can a person live like this? Here's a clip:

YUCK!
